From July 21–25, ICEA Chess hosted 19 enthusiastic young players at the 2025 ICEA Chess Summer Camp in Culver City for a dynamic week of chess instruction, physical activity, and teamwork. The camp kicked off with a lively opening ceremony and team-building icebreakers, setting the tone for a week of both mental challenges and active play.
Following an initial Day 1 evaluation, campers were placed into skill-based groups—beginner, intermediate, and advanced—to ensure each student received personalized instruction suited to their level. Each day followed a balanced schedule combining chess workshops, sports challenges, and interactive games.

Mornings were filled with engaging lessons in chess tactics and strategy, along with creative activities like chess piece scavenger hunts, team trivia, and giant team chess. Afternoons focused on practical application, with campers participating in USCF-rated or non-rated quad tournaments, followed by game analysis sessions led by our experienced coaches.

Our talented team of instructors—including Felix, Sid, Sabarish, Mahika and Logan—offered expert coaching, individual guidance, and in-depth post-game feedback to help each camper sharpen their skills and deepen their understanding of the game. Notably, all of our volunteers have completed the ICEA Leadership Training Program, and the summer camp provided a valuable opportunity for them to apply and strengthen their leadership skills in a real-world setting, supporting younger students and contributing meaningfully to the camp’s success.
The week concluded on a high note with a pizza party and a closing ceremony, where all campers were recognized for their participation, progress, sportsmanship, and overall growth and achievements throughout the camp. Each camper also received individual feedback from our coaching team, highlighting their performance during the week and offering encouragement for their continued chess journey.
ICEA Chess is proud to provide a supportive and enriching environment where children grow not just as chess players, but as leaders, thinkers, and teammates. The 2025 Summer Camp was a memorable experience for all, and we look forward to continuing our mission to inspire and empower the next generation of chess minds.
