Play-up Policy:

Please note that the Play-Up option is only available to players within 100 USCF rating points of the section they wish to join. For example, to participate in the 1600+ section, your rating must be at least 1500, based on either the current month’s supplement rating or your most recent rating. (The peak rating within the past six months may also be considered.)

If you are an unrated player with no rated games, you will need to start in the U1000 section. Please keep in mind that your rating will be provisional for your first 25 rated games, and we will use your provisional rating to determine section eligibility.

For foreign players without an established USCF rating, we will use the following formula to convert your FIDE rating to a USCF rating:

• If FIDE ≤ 2000: USCF Rating = 932 + 0.564 × FIDE
• If FIDE > 2000: USCF Rating = 20 + 1.02 × FIDE

Note: Section eligibility is typically verified before the tournament, as your most recent rating may change after the monthly supplement rating is published.
