In the second ICEA chess workshop, around 20 kids from ages 5 to 13 participated in a practice tournament with medals for the winners this time. Four quads were led by Coaches Austin, Felix, Esther, and Alex, called Stockfish, Komodo, Houdini, and Alphazero. The kids had a great time and had fun competing over the board and playing casual blitz games while enjoying provided snacks and drinks. Additionally, Coaches Felix and Esther faced off against each other, while the kids gave suggestions and advised them throughout the game. They learned from the coaches’ perspectives and gained valuable tournament experience, sharpening their skills while making friends along the way.
The kids played against each other in quads of 4 people, with 6 in Quad D (Alphazero). In Quad A (Stockfish), Zidaan H. was the winner with a perfect score of 3/3! In Quad B (Komodo), Austin L. won with 1.5/3 points in an intense tie break game! Congratulations to Rohan Jha, who also scored 1.5/3 as well. In Quad C (Houdini), Max P. won with 3/3, a perfect score! In Quad D (Alphazero), Kiren K., Akasha B., and Nathaniel Y. took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd with 3/3 (another perfect score!), 2/3, and 1.5/3 respectively.
